What is it?  

FEMINET is a web site that aims at contributing to the increase of opportunities for women, in order to obtain economic independence through efficiently using communication information and technology, but also to achieve a better understanding of women's rights.
This project will offer the participants a chance to be equal with their male business partners, through their success.

Justification of the project

The necessity of the project appeared in the context of the development of democracy in Romania and of the transition process of the society, in which the old customs and prejudices regarding the status of women had not disappeared. This situation does not provide too many development opportunities for a woman who wants to build a successful carrier. AFR is certain that this project can offer them a chance.

Immediate objectives of the project:

- raising the level of knowledge of women on information technologies
- raising awareness amongst women on the importance of the Internet as a resource and of their rights
- training 50 women in the inter-active and efficient use of the Internet - creating a space in which women can share information on various opportunities from the labour market, identify business partners, business opportunities and training opportunities for various areas

On the long term, the project aims at:

- creating an inter-active Internet data base containing specific information for women, in social and economic areas, training of 50 women in efficiently using the Internet. The achievement of these objectives can lead to obtaining increased revenues for the families of women included in the project, as well as to establishing of a solid database for its development as a profitable business.
- increasing opportunities for women, in order to achieve economic independence, through efficiently using communication information and technologies and to have a better understanding of women's rights.

Results 

The achievement of these objectives can lead to obtaining increased revenues for the families of women included in the project, as well as to establishing of a solid database for its development as a profitable business.
This project represents one of the few chances that women in Romania have to develop a career or their own business, according to their own wishes. It offers women the possibility to get involved in the development of their own communities and to obtain their respect.
Equally, the training of 50 women in efficiently using the Internet can lead to obtaining increased revenues for the families of women included in the project, as well as to establishing of a solid database for its development as a profitable business.

The promotion of this project will have a special component, through determining women to use the web site created through this project and to contribute with information to its development and efficient functioning. The channels that we are going to use are newspapers and magazines for women, as well as the organisation of promotion activities in the local communities where our association has representatives.

The Feminet web site will be, of course, open also for men, for information and exchange of experience purposes.The project wishes to be an original solution to the acute problems of transition, problems resented painfully both by women and their families, success in business being able to make them regain their trust and the material balance necessary for daily living.
